What's the difference between file formats (MP3, FLAC, WINDOWS MEDIA)?
MP3
The standard MP3 files, encoded at 128 Kbps (near-CD quality) are easy to download, easy to burn to CD, easy to transfer to portable players. MP3 files are versatile enough to use on your computer, portable digital music players, and many home stereo systems.
FLAC
FLAC is a "lossless" compression, which means that the source audio file is compressed, but without sacrificing any of the audio information contained in the master recording. An extracted FLAC file sounds identical to the original source (44.1 kHz, 16 bit stereo). The high fidelity FLAC files are much larger files than MP3 and will take longer to download and require more disc space to store. Please be sure to check compatibility with your portable player, audio applications and CD burning software.
Please note that although the FLAC file format offers a higher audio quality, it is not supported by some audio players, including iTunes and Windows Media Player. The files must be first converted to .WAV files. If you are unsure how to convert the file, you may want to consider downloading the MP3 version of the product instead of the FLAC version. WINDOWS MEDIA (128 Kbps)
WINDOWS MEDIA (128 Kbps) files are similar to MP3 in quality but are typically encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM). For WINDOWS MEDIA files that are encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM), you may be limited to the number of times you may download, transfer and burn a file. The DRM settings vary by product. What do I get?
After completing the purchase process you may download the entire product in the format you've chosen. Individual files are not available as separate purchases - you may only purchase products in their entirety. Certain products also have printable PDF files for CD labels, booklets and tray inlays. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later to access the files. top of page
Can I use a dial-up modem or do I need high-speed internet access?
You can download products through either a dial-up modem or high speed internet. However, it could take over 12 hours to download one group of files encoded at 128 Kbps. High-speed internet access typically takes between 15 minutes to a half-hour to download a group of files encoded at 128 Kbps. Therefore, we recommend downloading through high-speed internet access.

How do I download the product I purchased?
After you purchase a product you will receive a confirmation email. This email will contain a direct link to your Download Manager. You can also navigate back to the store that you purchased the product from. Log in to the store with the account you used to purchase the product. Click on the "My Downloads" button on the site navigation bar. The Download Manager window will open with a list of all of the files for that product. Once you are in the Download Manager you can choose to download files individually or as an entire group of files.
WINDOWS USERS:
DOWNLOAD INDIVIDUAL FILE:
1. You may download files individually by clicking on a file title.
2. An alert box should appear prompting you to save the file.
3. Select a folder to save the file into and click the SAVE button. Please make sure you have enough free drive space to save the entire group of files.
4. Repeat for each file.
DOWNLOAD ALL FILES:
1. Click the orange DOWNLOAD ALL FILES button at the bottom of the window.
2. A small window will pop open prompting you to choose a directory to download into. Select the folder where you would like to save this product. Please make sure you have enough free drive space for the entire group of files.
3. The Download Manager will load the list of all of the files for this product.
4. The Download Manager will automatically start downloading the your files.

If they do not match change the name of the file to match the song title and file format you are downloading. Please make sure you have enough free drive space for the entire group of files.

Please note: if you experience problems downloading particular files from a given product, you may return to download those files again for up to 48 hours from the time you started to download that product. Can I download products I've purchased to multiple computers?
For standard MP3 and FLAC files you can download a product to a computer other than the one you originally purchased the product on as long as it is within 48 hours from the time the first download was initiated. When you login in to the store, click "My Downloads" in the site navigation bar. From the Download Manager you can download the files again.
For WINDOWS MEDIA files that are encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM), you may be limited to the number of times you may download, transfer and burn a file. These files are noted with an asterisk in your shopping basket. The DRM settings vary by product.

Is there a cumulative list of all the products that I've purchased?
Once you have logged in to the store where you purchased the download products from, click "My Downloads" on the site navigation bar for a list of all products you have purchased. The "My Downloads" page will display how much time you have remaining to download each product you have purchased, and will indicate products that have expired because of elapsed time. top of page
How do I listen to product downloads?
MP3
MP3 files can play on many audio player applications and portable player devices. Some home stereo and car audio systems support MP3 file playback as well. In general, MP3 file compatibility is more common than FLAC file compatibility. Please refer to your audio player specifications for more information and playback instructions.
FLAC
FLAC files can be played on any audio application that supports the FLAC file type. If your software does not support FLAC file types, you may have to convert the file to a WAV first. Please refer to your audio player software specifications for more information and playback instructions.
WINDOWS MEDIA
WINDOWS MEDIA files that are not encoded with DRM can be accessed or converted by several audio applications. Please refer to your audio player software specifications for more information and playback instructions.

How do I burn product downloads to CD?
MP3
If you have access to a CD player that can play MP3 files, all you need to do is create a data CD of the MP3 files in the proper product order and play it in your CD player. However, many CD players cannot play MP3 files from a data CD. Therefore, you will need to burn an audio CD from the MP3 files. Most CD burning software allows you to burn MP3 files as audio discs directly. Older software may require you to convert the MP3 files to WAV files manually. On live performance products, make sure to burn the audio CD with the Disc-At-Once (DAO) option turned on or set number of seconds between tracks to ZERO to avoid any two second gaps between tracks on your CDs.
FLAC
Using the appropriate software for your operating system, uncompress each of the FLAC files into WAV files. The WAV files are what you will need to burn an audio CD that can be played on most CD players. Keep in mind that not all CD burning software can burn WAV files. Be sure to check compatibility with your software. After the WAV files are extracted, burn them in your favorite CD burning application. For live performance products use the Disc-At-Once (DAO) option to avoid any two-second gaps between tracks on your CDs.
WINDOWS MEDIA
If you have access to a CD burner that supports writable or re-writable CDs then you can easily burn downloads to a CD using Windows Media Player 9, or other audio applications that support WINDOWS MEDIA files.

Can I copy products onto my portable player?
Yes, MP3 files may be freely transferred onto your favorite portable device. FLAC files have to be uncompressed and converted into other file types (i.e. WAV or MP3 files) to be playable on a portable player. Use the software that came with your portable player to copy files onto your player. WINDOWS MEDIA files can be copied to portable players, but they may have DRM settings that restrict the number of times you can transfer to portable devices. DRM settings vary by product.

Can I make copies of the product downloads?
You may only copy the files you download onto CDs or other devices for personal use. Copies are strictly for your own use and you may not make additional copies for other people. Copying for others is a violation of federal and state copyright laws. Some products may also have DRM settings that restrict copying. DRM settings vary by product.

What is Digital Rights Management (DRM)?

Why is "lossless" more expensive than "128 Kbps"?
Lossless downloads are more expensive because of their higher quality. A lossless file is typically five or more times the size of a 128 Kbps product.

Can I use iTunes to play my download products?
iTunes can be used to play any MP3 file and WAV file. FLAC files must be converted to WAV or MP3 before iTunes can play them. If you are using iTunes 4.5 or greater, WINDOWS MEDIA files that are not encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM) can be converted to AAC files and played back using iTunes.

How do I print the artwork for my download product?
The artwork for a download product is presented in a .PDF file format. You will need to make sure that you have the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. The CD labels are formatted to fit NEATO brand CD labels. We recommend using NEATO Glossy CD Labels, Booklet & Tray Cards for use with ink jet printers or NEATO Economatte CD Labels, Booklet & Tray Cards for use with laser printers. NEATO supplies are available from www.neato.com.
Tips for printing:
- In the Adobe Acrobat Reader, make sure you set the “Page Scaling” to “None” under the “Print” menu. The default setting will shrink the image and misalign your artwork.
- It is possible that different printers will format the images differently. We recommend printing a test page on regular paper to see how your printer processes the image.
- It is common for a piece of paper to be slightly skewed when being fed into the printer. The images are designed to print with bleed over to accommodate for slight variations. If you have difficulties using the automatic tray feeder, we recommend trying the manual feeder on your printer.
- When printing your test page we recommend noting the “top” of the page before loading into the printer tray. You can then check the direction that your printer feeds the paper and properly load the NEATO paper.
- NEATO CD Labels come with two labels per sheet. If you have already used the top label on a sheet, you can rotate the paper and feed from the other end to print on the remaining label.

Why is there a gap or click before each MP3 track??
Every MP3 file has at least 20 milliseconds of silence at the beginning of it. This is part of the MP3 format and cannot be removed. Most MP3 players (such as Winamp) remove these moments of silence automatically upon playback by cross fading between tracks for seamless transitions. top of page

The product I downloaded is incomplete. Can I download again?
From the time of your initial attempt to download your product you have 48 hours to complete the download. The download manager will display the time you have remaining to complete the download and allow you to resume downloading where you left off, and will indicate products that have expired because of elapsed time. top of page
What do I do if I lose my connection during the download process?
When downloading large files, especially FLAC files, your web browser or ISP may reset your connection. In most cases, you can resume a broken download by selecting the files in the Download Manager window that you need to resume.

6. The Download Manager will load the list of all of the files for this product. You may click the SKIP>> buttons on the left side of the list to skip over any files you have already downloaded successfully.
7. The Download Manager will automatically start downloading the your files.
8. If you have any problems, please contact customer service.
MAC USERS:
1. Open your browser.
2. Click the Window menu at the top of your screen.
3. Select Download Manager.
4. A window will pop open with a list of your recent downloads.
5. Look through the list for the song files you need to resume.
6. Double-click the song file and a window will open with information for that file.
7. Click the Reload button in the bottom-right corner of the window.
8. Your download of this file should resume.

What do I do if I cannot download a product within 48 hours?
If you have technical difficulties downloading for a product you have purchased within 48 hours of the time you started to download that product, please contact customer service. The "My Downloads" page will display how much time you have remaining to download each product you have purchased, and will indicate products that have expired because of elapsed time.

Can I use iTunes to play my download products?
iTunes can be used to play any MP3 file and WAV file. FLAC files must be converted to WAV or MP3 before iTunes can play them. If you are using iTunes 4.5 or greater, WINDOWS MEDIA files that are not encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM) can be converted to AAC files and played back using iTunes.
WINDOWS MEDIA FILES THAT ARE ENCODED WITH DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT (DRM) CAN ONLY BE DOWNLOADED AND PLAYED USING WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER 5.5 OR LATER AND WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9 OR LATER. IF YOU ARE USING A MAC, YOU MAY PURCHASE A PRODUCT THAT IS ENCODED WITH DRM, BUT YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE PRODUCT USING A PC WITH WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER 5.5 OR LATER AND WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9 OR LATER.
